  • Wolf Blass Platinum Label Shiraz

    ( reviews)
    RM617.00

    Vintage 2012

    Region :
    Eden Valley, Barossa Valley

    Grape :
    Shiraz

    Tasting Notes :
The distinguished Medlands Vineyard lies within an exceptional pocket of ground at Dorrien on the central north Barossa Valley floor, a site long renowned for growing outstanding Shiraz. Gently sloping towards the North Para River, the microclimate benefits from cooling breezes flowing down-river from the foothills and enjoys optimum sunlight, low rainfall and low humidity.

The vineyard is comprised of ancient soils ranging from loamy sands over light clays to sandy loams over medium clays, laid down 5 million years ago when an uplift of the Eastern ranges and a sinking of the valley floor caused the central valley to fill with sediments. This unique terroir results in Shiraz of purity, elegance, tight structure and flawless balance.

    Tempranilo 100%

    Tasting notes:
This Gran Reserva is a bright cherry and garnet red with brick hues. Black fruit, licorice and violet notes, so typical of Tempranillo, amalgamate with the spicy, mineral aromas of Graciano. During bottle aging, all of this is assembled with toasty and balsamic aromas (vanilla, pepper, tobacco) contributed by the barrels. As the wine is aired in the glass, it discloses its full range of nuances and complex aromas. In the mouth, it reflects our surroundings, with a mild entry and a sense of elegance and balance, ending in long persistence, denoting the craft of barrel aging and the assemblage provided by a long stay in the bottle.

    ( reviews)
    RM175.00

    Region :
    Coonawarra

    Grape :
    Shiraz

    Tasting Notes :
Shiraz (formerly known as ‘Hermitage’) is an important part of Coonawarra’s history. The acknowledged reputation of Coonawarra for age-worthy wines has largely centered on Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz blends. However the very early history (in the 1890s) centred on other varieties – particularly Shiraz.

Today Wynns is privileged to hold Shiraz vineyards on many prime locations within Coonawarra. Vines for this label are between 30 and 110 years old. Wynns ‘Black Label’ Shiraz is a superb example of Coonawarra’s cool climate style. Displaying great fruit character, this wine has rich and complex flavours of red berries, spice and chocolate with layered fruit underpinned by tightly focused tannins.

The wine is produced from only the top quality 20 to 25 per cent of Cabernet Sauvignon fruit grown in our terra rossa vineyards.

A wine of style and stature – and a perennial favourite in auction circles – ‘Black Label’ is one of Australia’s most collectable wines and Australia’s benchmark Cabernet Sauvignon. It consistently delivers potential for medium to long-term cellaring..
